The resume builder is an editor with a live preview: what you see is a real page, not an approximation that changes when you export.

Starting#

Two ways in, and importing is usually the faster one:

  1. Import an existing resume. Drop in a PDF or Word file and it is read into structured sections - experience, education, skills - rather than pasted in as a block of text. LinkedIn is also supported as a source.

  2. Or start empty and fill the sections directly.

Editing#

Sections can be reordered, hidden, and restyled. The preview updates as you type and is drawn from the same model the export uses, so the page you are looking at is the page you will get.

What the review banner is asking#

An import shows a banner until you have looked at what it was unsure about. It is not a warning that something is broken - it is a list of the places where a decision was made on your behalf.

The parts most often worth a look:

  • Dates. 2021-2023 and 2021 - Present parse cleanly; Summer '21 does not.
  • Where one job ends and the next begins, when the original had no clear separator.
  • Bullets that were really sub-bullets, which arrive flattened.
  • Skills, which come in as one list and usually want grouping.

Then what#

  1. Fix the content, not the design. See sections and entries and writing good bullets.
  2. Pick a template once the words are settled - templates and design.
  3. Export - exporting your resume.
