1:1 Career Mentorship

An Hour With a Mentor, on Your Agenda

Roadmap · Code Review · Promotion Strategy · Domain Switch · Negotiation

A Mock Interview rehearses one specific round. An Hourly Session is different - it's a focused hour for whatever career problem you bring: a roadmap, a resume review, a promotion case, a domain switch, or just “I don't know what to do next.” You set the topic before you even join.

  • Tell your mentor exactly what to prepare for, before the session starts
  • Real mentors, individually reviewed and approved by the Revquix team
  • Pay per session - no subscription, no retainer, no minimum

The full booked length

Each mentor sets their session length, from 15 to 90 minutes, and you see it before you book. A mentor ending materially early without your agreement can be disputed.

Mentors paid after delivery, not before

Your mentor is paid only once your session is complete and there's no unresolved dispute.

Refund-backed cancellation policy

If a mentor cancels or doesn't show up, you get a full refund automatically - the mentor receives no payout.

What People Bring to Their Hour

There's no wrong reason to book an hour

Pick the scenario closest to yours - every one of these is a real topic mentees have brought to their session.

Career Roadmap Planning

A concrete 90-day plan for where you want to be - built around your actual situation, background, and constraints, not a generic template.

A real example

"I'm 3 years in and don't know if I should aim for Staff Engineer or pivot to management."

No subscriptions - pay only for the session you book

What Actually Happens in the Hour

Structured enough to be genuinely useful

An open agenda doesn't mean an unstructured hour - here's how a typical session actually breaks down.

60minutes

One hour, four purposeful segments

Context Setting

5 min

Your mentor confirms the topic you shared during booking and asks any quick clarifying questions.

The Working Session

40 min

The bulk of the hour - working through your actual roadmap, review, negotiation prep, or open question in depth.

Next Steps & Action Items

10 min

You leave with concrete next steps - not just conversation, a plan you can act on immediately.

Wrap-Up

5 min

Quick recap and, if useful, a pointer to what to revisit before your next session.

Trust & Safety

How Revquix mentors are vetted & monitored

Mentors don't just sign up and go live. Every profile on Revquix passes through a request-or-apply pipeline, a profile-readiness check, and a manual team review - then stays accountable to a written Code of Conduct with real, enforced consequences.

Getting onto the platform

1

Reviewed, not self-listed

Every mentor is reviewed and approved by hand before their profile goes live. Nobody can list themselves and start taking bookings.

2

Identity & profile check

Before an application is accepted, the platform requires a real profile photo, a professional headline, and a LinkedIn profile our team can open and verify against what the applicant claims.

3

Written motivation review

Every applicant writes a statement of why they want to mentor. A person at Revquix reads it, alongside their profile and LinkedIn, before any approval - there is no auto-approve path.

4

Manual team approval

A mentor profile only goes live after a human at Revquix approves the application. Approved mentors are the only ones who ever appear on /mentors or in featured sections.

5

Per-service publish checks

Approval is not the last gate. Each service a mentor publishes - a 1:1 session, a mock interview, a package - has to pass its own checks on description, duration and pricing before it can be bought.

Staying on the platform - the Mentor Code of Conduct

Mandatory feedback, every session

Submitting your feedback report after a Mock Interview isn't optional - it's a contractual obligation. Skipping it automatically raises a system dispute against the mentor.

Quality-checked, not just submitted

Superficial feedback - one-line answers, generic copy-paste text - is explicitly called out as a Code of Conduct violation, not just "low effort."

Platform-exclusive payments

Mentors are contractually barred from taking payment outside Revquix. Soliciting off-platform payment is a Category 1 violation - the most serious tier, resulting in an immediate permanent ban.

Honest attendance, or it's fraud

Confirming a session happened when it didn't is treated as fraud, with a permanent ban. Genuine no-shows trigger an automatic full refund to the learner.

Real enforcement, not empty policy

Category 1

Instant permanent ban

  • • Off-platform payment solicitation
  • • Falsified credentials
  • • Fraudulent payout details
  • • False attendance confirmation
  • • Recording a session without consent
  • • Sharing a learner's data
Category 2

Suspension (7–30 days)

  • • 2+ no-shows within 90 days
  • • Late-cancellation rate above 20%
  • • 3+ feedback-not-submitted disputes
  • • Soliciting learners to go off-platform
Category 3

Formal warning

  • • First documented no-show
  • • A single late cancellation
  • • Missing the meeting-link deadline once

This is a summary. Read the full Mentor Code of Conduct - the same document every approved Revquix mentor agrees to.

Illustrative Stories

The kinds of conversations an hour makes room for

Revquix is early-stage, so these are illustrative, generated examples of the kinds of problems an Hourly Session is built to solve - not verified quotes from real users yet.

Domain Switching

“I'd been a backend engineer for three years and wanted to move into data engineering but had no idea what was actually transferable. My mentor mapped out exactly which of my skills carried over and which ones I genuinely needed to build from scratch. That one hour saved me months of guessing.”

Understanding a Hard Topic

“I kept reading about distributed consensus and it never clicked from articles alone. I booked an hour just to ask 'dumb' questions about Raft and Paxos. My mentor drew it out live and it finally made sense - sometimes you just need one person to explain it the way that fits your brain.”

Choosing Between Two Offers

“I had two offers and both looked good on paper. My mentor asked questions about team structure and growth that I hadn't even thought to ask the recruiters. Ended up picking the smaller company for reasons I wouldn't have weighed properly on my own.”

Promotion Strategy

“I was doing senior-level work but my manager kept saying 'not yet.' My mentor helped me put together the actual case - documented impact, not just tasks - for my next review cycle. Blunt feedback, exactly what I needed instead of another round of vague encouragement.”

Offer Negotiation

“I've negotiated raises before but never a manager-level offer with equity involved. Went through the actual numbers with my mentor and walked away with a concrete ask instead of just 'can you do better.' Got more than I expected to.”

Career Roadmap Planning

“I'd been coasting for a while without a real direction. My mentor didn't just hand me a generic 'learn X, Y, Z' list - he asked what I actually enjoyed and built a 90-day plan around that instead. First roadmap I've followed for more than two weeks.”

Resume & Portfolio Review

“My resume read like a task list - 'worked on X feature,' nothing about impact. My mentor rewrote two bullet points live so I could see the pattern, then had me redo the rest myself. Recruiter callbacks noticeably picked up after.”

Confidence & Imposter Syndrome

“I'm technically capable but freeze up in front of senior folks. Didn't expect a career mentorship session to touch on that, but my mentor had dealt with the exact same thing early in his career and gave me a genuinely useful reframe, not just 'believe in yourself.'”

Domain Switching

"I Don't Know What's Next"

“I genuinely didn't have a topic when I booked - just told them I was lost after graduating with no clear specialisation. My mentor spent the first ten minutes just asking questions before we even got to advice. Left with an actual direction, not just a pep talk.”

Common questions about 1:1 sessions

What is the difference between an hourly session and a mock interview?

A mock interview rehearses one specific interview round and is scored like a real one. An hourly session is open-agenda: you bring whatever career problem you are working through - a roadmap, a resume review, a promotion case, a domain switch, negotiation prep - and tell your mentor the topic before the session starts.

Is this a subscription?

No. There is no monthly fee anywhere on Revquix. You pay per session, for exactly the mentor and slot you book, and you are free to book once or come back whenever you need to.

Can I book the same mentor again for a follow-up?

Yes. Open their profile and book another slot. Many career conversations benefit from continuity with the same mentor across a few sessions, and some mentors bundle several into a package at one price.

What if I do not know exactly what I need help with yet?

That is a completely normal way to start - say so in the topic field when you book. If you are genuinely undecided even on that, contact us and we will help you work out the right first step.

Does my mentor actually see what I want to discuss before the call?

Yes. The booking flow asks for your topic and a short description of your goals and context, and your mentor sees it before the session starts, so the hour is not spent explaining background from scratch.

What happens if my mentor cancels or does not show up?

You get a full, automatic refund, and the mentor receives no payout for the missed session. Cancellations and no-shows are covered by the Mentor Code of Conduct.

How much does an hourly session cost?

Each mentor sets their own rate, and it is on their listing before you book. 1:1 sessions currently start at ₹200. There is no platform-wide flat fee.
