The assessment year is part of the answer#
Indian tax law changes every February, and somebody comparing an offer received in March against one received in May is comparing two different sets of slabs.
So the assessment year is a setting on the calculation, and it is printed next to the result - not tucked into a footnote.
Every statutory number these tools use - slab boundaries, rates, caps, thresholds - lives in one place and is versioned by assessment year, so a published year is never edited underneath you.
What they are not#
- Not tax advice. They are calculators, and they compute what you tell them to compute. A real return has circumstances a calculator does not know about.
- Not connected to your account. Nothing is saved, and nothing appears in your run history, because no run happened on our side. Closing the tab loses the inputs.
- Not a payroll system. Take-home is computed from the structure you enter; your employer's actual payslip may allocate components differently.
