Messaging your mentor
Why you cannot message before booking, when the thread opens and closes, and what to do with a question you need answered first.
Every confirmed booking comes with a message thread between you and the mentor. It is on the booking page - there is nothing to set up.
You cannot message before booking#
There is no way to contact a mentor from their profile, and that is a deliberate design rather than a missing feature.
So what do you do with a question first?#
- Read the service description properly. A well-written listing answers most pre-booking questions, and one that does not is itself information about the mentor.
- Book the shorter thing. Many mentors offer a short call alongside a longer session. A thirty-minute call is a reasonable way to find out whether somebody is the right fit.
- If the question is about Revquix rather than the mentor, that is us - see Help & Support.
When the thread opens#
At the confirmed booking, and it is keyed to the two of you rather than to one booking - so if you book the same mentor again you carry on in the same conversation instead of starting a new one.
When it closes#
The thread stays open for 14 days after your last live booking, package or dispute with that mentor. After that you can still read it; you just cannot send anything new.
The window is 14 days rather than a week because mock-interview feedback and the dispute process both sit inside it - closing sooner would mean opening a dispute just to have somewhere to ask a follow-up question.
What to send#
Anything that helps the session: your resume, a job description, the problem you are stuck on, a link to your code. Sending context in advance is the single best way to make an hour worth more.
