Your calendar

The hours you are bookable, how blocks and holidays work, and why a slot you expected to see may not be offered.

Your calendar decides when a buyer can book you. Nothing else does - a published service with no bookable hours is a listing nobody can act on.

The two things you control#

  1. Recurring hours. The pattern of when you are normally available.
  2. Blocks. Specific periods you are not - holidays, travel, a busy fortnight.

The calendar page shows what those two produce: how many hours are bookable in the next 7 days and the next 14. Those counts are the honest answer to "am I actually bookable", and they are worth checking after any change.

Your timezone#

Slots are held in your timezone and shown to each buyer in theirs. If you travel, change your timezone in settings - the calendar reads it rather than guessing from your browser, so a trip does not silently move every slot you have published.

Why a slot is not offered#

An hour can be inside your recurring pattern and still not be bookable. Usually one of:

  • Something is already booked in it. Bookings hold their slot exclusively.
  • A block covers it.
  • It is too close to now. A slot starting in a few minutes is not offered, because neither of you can prepare and reminders will not reach the buyer in time.
  • It is past the end of your published window.

That third one has a consequence worth knowing about, covered in running a session: a booking made at very short notice gets no reminder emails at all, only the confirmation.

When a booking already exists#

Removing hours or adding a block does not cancel bookings already in them. An existing booking is a commitment and the calendar will not quietly break it. If you need to move one, reschedule it explicitly - see rescheduling and cancelling.
