Sharing a project
Three visibilities, what each one means in practice, and how to take something down after you have shared it.
If you want to show someone your code, share the project. It has one of three visibilities, and you change it whenever you like.

| Public | Anyone, and it appears on your profile. |
Unlisted versus public#
Unlisted is the one to use for "look at this" - a link you send to one person, an answer in a thread, a portfolio piece not ready to be listed. It is not secret: anyone who gets the link can open it, and links get forwarded.
Public adds it to your profile, where it is part of how you are presented. Use it for work you would be happy to be judged on.
What a viewer sees#
Your files, read-only, and the ability to run them. They cannot edit your project and nothing they do affects it.
Taking it down#
Set it back to Private and the link stops working. There is no waiting period.
A project can also be taken down by us if it breaks the rules - the dialog says so plainly when that has happened rather than failing silently.
Sharing and archiving#
Archiving a project does not unshare it. If you are done with something and want it gone from public view, set it Private first and archive second - archiving on its own hides it from your list, not from anybody holding the link.
