Links and socials

The links section - what belongs there, what does not, and the one link most profiles are missing.

View as .md

Links are where a visitor goes to check you out. Treat the section as a short list of things you would actually want opened.

What belongs#

  • GitHub, if you write code. The single most-clicked link on a technical profile.
  • LinkedIn, because it is where people verify a career.
  • A personal site or portfolio, if it is current.
  • Where you publish - a blog, a talk, a paper.

What does not#

  • A link that 404s or redirects to a parked domain. Worse than no link: it suggests nothing here has been checked recently.
  • Six social accounts you do not post on. An empty account is a data point about you.
  • A link to a document that could just be your profile. If it duplicates what is already on the page, it is asking a visitor to do work twice.

Check them when you review#

Links rot silently. Nothing on Revquix checks whether they still resolve, so a dead link stays live on your profile indefinitely. Opening each one is a two-minute job worth doing whenever you touch the profile.
