How the Revquix ATS score is calculated

The Revquix ATS score is a Readiness Score out of 100 calculated in Revquix's own code: 8 dimensions are each scored from 0 to 100, weighted for one of 5 career stages, and added up, and an AI model never chooses the number.

The same rubric, version r1, powers the free ATS score on the ATS Resume Checker and the AI Resume Analyzer. The score is free; the full report costs 2 credits. A resume a parser cannot read is capped at 55.

The formula

The score is a weighted sum

Each dimension gets a sub-score from 0 to 100. Each sub-score is multiplied by that dimension's weight for your career stage, and the results are added up. The weights for a stage always total 100, so the score is out of 100.

The report shows every part of that sum: each dimension's sub-score, the weight applied and the points it contributed, so you can check the total yourself.

score = Σ ( dimension sub-score × stage weight ) ÷ 100

If skill coverage cannot be measured on a run (the service that matches skills by meaning is unavailable), it is named as missing and the other weights are re-scaled to 100. It is never scored as zero.

What is measured

The 8 dimensions

Each dimension is a separate judgement, so a finding tells you whether it is a five-minute fix or a rewrite. More on each in the dimensions guide.

The dimensions of the Revquix readiness score and what each measures
DimensionWhat it measures
ParseabilityWhether an applicant tracking system can read your file at all: layout, fonts, encryption, and whether your contact details are in the text flow.
Structure and completenessWhether the sections a recruiter and a parser both expect are present, complete and in a conventional order.
Impact and quantificationWhether your bullets state outcomes with numbers, or only describe duties.
Skill coverageWhether the skills you claim are backed by a bullet that demonstrates them, matched by meaning rather than by keyword, so a skill can be listed and still count as unevidenced.
Timeline integrityWhether your dates are consistent, in order, and free of unexplained gaps.
Language hygieneSpelling, passive voice, overused phrases, first-person pronouns and bullet length: the things that make a resume read as filler.
Career trajectory and scopeWhether your resume shows a career going somewhere: progression, tenure that holds, and the size of what you have owned.
Screening riskThings that get a resume filtered or discounted for reasons unrelated to how good you are: liabilities, ambiguities and unforced errors.

The weights

Weights by career stage

A fresher and a director are not read for the same things, so each resume is scored against one of 5 stages, chosen from the months of dated employment on it.

How the Revquix career stage is chosen
Career stageDated employment on the resume
FresherNo dated employment
Early careerUnder 3 years (1 to 35 months)
Mid-level3 to 8 years (36 to 95 months)
Senior8 to 15 years (96 to 179 months)
Leadership15 years or more, or a leadership title with substantial experience

Rubric r1. Each column sums to 100.

Skill coverage falls

From 22% for a fresher to 12% at leadership. A fresher is read for what they can demonstrably do; a leadership resume is not read by counting technologies.

Trajectory rises

From 6% to 20%. At leadership level the question has become what you have owned and how that grew.

Parseability never moves

18% at every stage. A file a machine cannot read fails the same way whoever wrote it.

Reading the number

Score bands

Revquix readiness score bands
BandScoreWhat it means
Needs work0 to 49The resume is likely to struggle before a person reads it. Start with the top finding.
Getting there50 to 69A working resume with identifiable gaps. The gap is usually tailoring, not a rebuild.
Strong70 to 84A good general resume. The remaining lever is tailoring it to one specific role.
Excellent85 to 100Very little left for an automated check to say. Deliberately reachable, not a trophy.

The one hard limit

A resume a parser cannot read is capped at 55

Whatever the other dimensions scored. A resume that reads well and cannot be opened by the system receiving it has not done its job, and a score in the 80s would say something untrue. If your score is exactly 55 and the report leads with a parseability finding, that is the cap, not a coincidence. Fix it first; the ATS Resume Checker shows the exact text a parser extracts.

The cap and every weight are explained in How your score is calculated.

Revquix AI

What the model does, and what it never does

The score is measured by code. A language model is used for one step: writing about findings that already exist. Before any resume text reaches it, your name, email, phone, address, date of birth and links are replaced, and each employer becomes "Company 1".

What it does

  • Writes the plain-language explanation for each finding the code measured.
  • Suggests rewrites of weak bullets, leaving a placeholder for you to fill wherever a number belongs.
  • Works only from redacted text and numbers the code has already produced.

What it never does

  • Chooses or changes the score. Its response format has no numeric field.
  • Re-judges a finding the code made.
  • Invents a metric you did not give it.
  • Sees who you are: account identifiers are never sent.

How the free ATS checker uses this rubric

ATS Resume Checker

First, a check that uses no AI at all: it extracts your PDF or Word file the way an applicant tracking system would, shows the exact text in reading order, and flags two-column scrambling, text trapped in images, and missing contact details, headings or dates.

Then, if you choose, a free ATS score out of 100 from this rubric with the top three fixes, 1 a day without an account and 4 a day signed in.

Questions about the score

How is the Revquix ATS score calculated?

It is arithmetic. Revquix's own code scores 8 dimensions from 0 to 100, multiplies each by its published weight for your career stage, and adds them up to a score out of 100. The rubric is versioned; the current version is r1.

Does AI decide my ATS score?

No. The model is never asked for a number and its response format has no numeric field. It writes the explanations and suggested bullet rewrites for findings the code has already measured.

Is the Revquix ATS score the same as an employer's ATS score?

No, and no outside tool can be. Applicant tracking systems do not show candidates a score, so nobody can reproduce a company's own. The Revquix score is a published rubric that measures whether a resume survives a parser and reads well for its career stage.

Why did my score stop at 55?

A resume that a parser cannot read is capped at 55, whatever the other dimensions scored. If the report leads with a parseability finding, fix that first and run it again.

Why are the weights different for freshers?

Because a fresher and a director are read for different things. Skill coverage falls from 22% for a fresher to 12% at leadership, and career trajectory rises from 6% to 20%. The stage is chosen from the months of dated employment on the resume.

Is the ATS score free?

Yes. The score out of 100 is free, 1 a day without an account and 4 a day signed in, on both the ATS Resume Checker and the AI Resume Analyzer. The full report with every deduction explained costs 2 credits, and new accounts get 20 free.

Will the same resume always get the same score?

Re-running the same file under the same rubric version returns the stored report, so the score does not drift between runs. When the rubric changes it gets a new version number, and every report records the version it was scored under.

Does adding keywords raise the score?

Not on its own. Skill coverage is matched by meaning, and a skill only counts as evidenced when a bullet shows you using it. A keyword list with nothing behind it can still count as unevidenced.

What is a good ATS score on Revquix?

0 to 49 is needs work, 50 to 69 is getting there, 70 to 84 is strong, 85 to 100 is excellent.
