Discount codes
Applying a code at checkout, the conditions that can stop one working, and what happens to a discount when an order is refunded.
Codes are applied at checkout, in the field beside the price. The price updates as soon as one is accepted, so you can see what it did before confirming.
Most codes come from the mentor whose service you are booking. Some are issued by Revquix.
Two kinds#
- Percentage off - a share of the price, sometimes with a cap on how much it can take off.
- A flat amount off - a rupee figure. On the international rail it is converted along with the price, since services are priced in rupees.
Why a code might not work#
The message says which, but these are the conditions a code can carry:
-
It has expired, or has not started yet. Codes have a validity window.
-
The order is too small. Some codes need a minimum order value.
-
You have already used it. A code can limit how many times one person may redeem it - often once.
-
It has run out. A code can have a total redemption limit across everybody.
-
It does not apply to this service. A mentor's code can be scoped to some of their services and not others.
On a refund#
If an order is refunded, what comes back is what you actually paid - the discounted amount, not the pre-discount price.
The code itself is not automatically returned to you. If it was a one-per-person code and the booking was cancelled, that is worth mentioning when you contact the mentor.
Codes and the mentor's earnings#
Worth knowing, because it affects how freely a mentor can offer one: a discount comes out of the mentor's share, including when Revquix issued the code. It is not a platform subsidy.
That is the mentor's side of it - see discount codes for mentors - and it is why a code you have been given is worth using rather than sitting on.
