# Reading the community feed

> The four ways to sort what members have published, searching across articles, topics and authors, and following a topic without following a person.

[The community feed](https://www.revquix.com/community) is everything Revquix members have
published. Anyone can read it, signed in or not.

It is not the same thing as [the Revquix Blog](https://www.revquix.com/blog), which is written
in-house - see [where your posts appear](https://www.revquix.com/docs/writing/where-your-posts-appear) for the
distinction.

## Four ways to read it

| Tab           | What it shows                              |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| **For You**   | Ranked against the skills on your profile. |
| **Following** | Only the people you follow.                |
| **Trending**  | What is being read right now.              |
| **Latest**    | Everything, newest first.                  |

**For You** and **Following** need an account - they are questions about you, and have no answer
otherwise. Signed out, the feed opens on **Latest**; signed in, on **For You**.

> **Note** - For You is driven by your skills, not by what you have read
>
> It ranks posts against the skills on your profile. An account with no skills set - or none that
> overlap what has been published - gets trending posts instead, so the tab is never empty.
>
> Which means the lever is not the feed. **Add the skills you actually care about** and For You

## Search

The search bar above the feed looks across three things at once, and groups the results as it types:

- **Articles** - matching posts, ranked by relevance rather than date.
- **Topics** - jump straight to a topic's page.
- **Authors** - jump straight to somebody's profile.

Searching replaces the feed with results; clearing it puts the feed back.

> **Warning** - Searching without an account is limited
>
> Anonymous visitors get a small allowance, after which search asks you to sign in. Signed in, it is
> unlimited. Browsing the feed and reading posts are not limited either way.

## Topics

Every post carries topics, and each topic has its own page at
`/community/tag/<topic>` listing everything tagged with it.

The topic panel beside the feed shows how many published posts each one has, which is a quicker read
than it sounds: a topic with three posts is not a topic worth following yet.

Topic pages are the right thing to bookmark if you follow a subject rather than a person - they keep
working as authors come and go.

## Saving something for later

Every card has a save control. Saved posts go to [your saved blogs](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/blog/saved), which is a private reading list -
the author sees a count, never who.
