# Using your resume elsewhere

> Your resume is reusable across the rest of Revquix, and can be checked against a file you already have. What each of those does.

A resume built here is not stranded in the builder.

## Use my resume

Anywhere on Revquix that wants a resume - a tool, a mentorship booking, an application - offers
**Use my resume** rather than a file picker.

> **Note** - It sends the current version, not a copy taken earlier
>
> So a resume improved after you used it somewhere is improved everywhere it is used next. Nothing is
> frozen at the moment you first attached it. If you need a specific version preserved, export it and
> keep the file - see [exporting your resume](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/exporting-your-resume).

That saves the download-then-upload round trip, and removes the commonest small mistake in a job
search: attaching last month's file.

## Checking a file you already have

You do not have to rebuild a resume to get it checked. The verification step takes a file you
already have - the one you have been sending - and runs it, so you find out how _that_ file behaves
rather than how a rebuilt version would.

Useful when you are happy with your existing resume and only want to know whether it parses. Start
with [the ATS check](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/the-ats-check).

If the check cannot complete, the file is usually one machines cannot read either - which is itself
the finding.

## Where your resume is used

- **Career tools** - readiness, JD match, bullet rewriting.
- **Mentorship** - sending it ahead of a session so the mentor arrives having read it.
- **Your profile**, if you choose to attach it.

> **Warning** - Attaching to a profile makes it visible to people who can see the profile
>
> That is the point of doing it, and it is worth a deliberate decision - a resume carries your phone
> number and email. Check what it contains before making it visible.

- [Booking a session](https://www.revquix.com/docs/mentorship/booking-a-session) - Sending it ahead of a session.

- [Exporting your resume](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/exporting-your-resume) - Keeping a fixed copy.
