# Fixing your resume from a report

> The "Fix it in my resume" card turns a report's findings into edits pinned to the lines they are about - free, nothing changes until you accept it, and your original file is never touched.

A report tells you what to change. Fix Mode makes the change in your resume: every finding is pinned to
the line it is about, as an edit you apply, edit or skip. It is **free**, it never asks for credits, and
nothing in your resume changes until you accept it.

## Where it starts

Under the result of the [ATS check](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/the-ats-check), the [Readiness report](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/your-readiness-score), [JD ↔ Resume Match](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/matching-a-job-description) and [the six-second scan](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/six-second-scan), a card asks **Want us to
make these changes in your resume?** It has two ways forward:

| Button | What happens |
| -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Fix it in my resume** | The report opens in the Resume Builder with every finding pinned to its line. |
| **Show me what to change** | The same changes as a list you copy into your own file. Nothing is saved. |

On [Resume Compare](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/comparing-two-resumes) the card offers
**Open it in the builder** instead: your newer version opens with the findings from its ATS check and
Readiness report pinned.

Signed out, the card asks you to sign in first. The report comes with you through sign-in, Google
included, so you never upload the file a second time.

## Your file or your builder resume

What "Fix it in my resume" opens depends on what the report was run on:

- **A resume from the builder** (a report run with **Use my resume**): that resume opens in the
  builder, at Fix Mode.
- **An uploaded file**: the file is rebuilt into a new resume in its own look first - fonts, spacing
and columns - and you see what its layout does to a parser before anything is saved. That step is
the same one described in [starting your resume](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/building-and-exporting). The rebuild
takes one of your resume slots, and your original file is never changed.

> **Note** - An upload is kept for a limited time
>
> Uploads are deleted under our retention policy. Once a report's file is gone there is nothing left to
> rebuild - run the report again on the file, or start from a resume in the builder.

## Working through Fix Mode

Fix Mode is the **Fix it from your reports** section of the builder's **Improve** room. Pick the reports
to fix from under **Fix from these reports**, and the plan is usually ready in under a minute. Selecting
a fix lights up the line it is about on the page.

The fixes come in groups, by what each one needs from you:

| Group | What it is | What you do |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Exact fixes** | Spelling, casing, headings and lines to remove. No AI involved. | Apply one, or apply them all together in one step. |
| **Rewrites** | A line written again by Revquix AI from your own line, shown as a word-by-word diff. | **Apply**, **Edit** it first, or **Skip**. Always one at a time. |
| **Job terms** | A term from the job description, placed in the line that already proves it. | Apply or skip, like a rewrite. |
| **Only you know these** | A fact we do not have, asked as a question. | Answer in your own words; Revquix AI writes the line with your answer. |
| **Details to add** | A field or section a reader expects to find. | **Add it** takes you there; mark it **Done** when it is in. |
| **Real gaps** | Something you do not have. It is never written into your resume. | Follow the link to where you can close it, or leave it for now. |

Suggestions that could not be pinned to one line are listed under **Could not place**, so nothing is
dropped: copy them in by hand.

> **Warning** - Fill in the blanks before you export
>
> Revquix AI never guesses a number. Where a rewrite needs a figure only you know, it leaves a marked
> blank, and the line is not finished until you put your own fact there.

Every rewrite is checked against your own line before you see it. A rewrite that claimed something
your line does not is not shown; you are asked the question instead.

## Undoing a change

Every applied fix is one step in the builder's history: press `⌘Z` (or `Ctrl Z` on Windows and Linux) to take it back. A skipped fix has **Restore**. The
list remembers what you applied and skipped, because it is saved with your resume.

## Show me what to change

For a resume you keep in Word, LaTeX or a design tool. The page lists the same fixes in the same
groups, each with **Copy the new line**, and questions you answer come back as a written line to copy.
Your file is not changed and nothing is saved to the builder.

It is only offered for an uploaded file. A resume from the builder already is your file, so its card
goes straight to Fix Mode.

## Re-check your resume

Under the plan, **Re-check now** exports the real PDF and runs the ATS check and the Readiness score on
it - the same engines as your reports, so the numbers mean the same thing. The PDF it checked is the one
**Download this PDF** gives you.

Inside a fix session a re-check does not use your daily free runs of either tool. **Plan the next
fixes** builds the next round from the new results.

## What is free, and the daily limits

Everything in Fix Mode is free. A few parts that use Revquix AI have a daily limit per account, reset
at midnight UTC:

| What | Per day |
| ------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Fix plans that Revquix AI writes for | 3 |
| Lines written again, including answered questions | 30 |
| Re-checks inside a fix session | 20 |

A plan made only of exact fixes and questions does not count, and building the same plan again for an
unchanged resume does not count either. Past a limit, exact fixes, details and questions keep working, and the AI items say
when they are back. Past the re-check limit, a re-check uses the tools' ordinary daily allowance.

The first time, Fix Mode asks for your consent to send your resume text to Revquix AI, as the [assists](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/improving-with-ai) do.

- [Reading your findings](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/reading-your-findings) - What each finding means.

- [Starting your resume](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/building-and-exporting) - Rebuilding a file in its own look.

- [Improving with AI](https://www.revquix.com/docs/resume/improving-with-ai) - The assists outside a fix session.
