## When it is worth it

- **After tailoring.** You duplicated a resume, hid some bullets, rewrote others, and three
  applications later you cannot remember which version says what.
- **Before sending.** Confirming the version going out is the one you meant.
- **Against an older resume.** Seeing what a year actually changed, which is often less than it felt
  like and occasionally more.

## What it shows

Differences in content, section by section - what was added, removed and reworded. Not a character
diff: the useful unit is a bullet, not a comma.

## The habit that removes most of the need

Name your resumes for the job, not the version.

> role it was for makes the comparison unnecessary most of the time.

## Keep what you sent

Whatever version went to an employer is the one you will be interviewed against. Export it, keep the
file, and do not edit that resume afterwards - duplicate it and edit the copy.

An interviewer reading a bullet you have since rewritten is a specific and avoidable kind of
uncomfortable.
