Your **Practice Score** is the sum of the points of every problem you solved, where a problem's points
measure how hard people actually find it. Help lowers what a problem is worth to you, and solving it
again later without help earns the points back. Every change to your score is listed, with the reason,
on the [Score tab](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/practice/score).

## A problem's points

Every problem is worth between **1.0 and 10.0 points**. The number is measured, not declared:

- It starts from the author's label: **Easy 1.5, Medium 3.5, Hard 7.5**.
- Every night (02:00 India time) it is re-estimated from people's first attempts. A problem many
people solve in one or two Submits drifts down; one people often try and rarely solve drifts up.
- Only verified accounts count, one attempt each. A problem's author and reviewer never count.
- Until about 30 people have attempted a problem, the author's label still carries most of the
estimate, and the problem shows **estimated** beside its points.
- Points move at most **10% in one night**, so nothing jumps overnight.

Because points are re-estimated, **your score can change overnight** even when you did nothing. The
Score tab says so, and the change appears in your history as "Nightly recalculation".

## Your score

Your score adds up the points of each problem you solved, **once per problem**: solving it again in a
second language adds nothing. Only published problems count. A problem you wrote, or reviewed before
it was published, never counts toward your score.

### Help changes what a problem is worth

What a problem is worth to you is decided by the help you had **before your first accepted Submit**,
and it is shown before you click:

| Help before your first accept | You earn |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------ |
| None | 100% of the points |
| One hint | 75% |
| Two or more hints | 50% |
| The Approach tab, or a Revquix AI action on the problem | 0% |

Help after your first accept costs nothing. Hints and the Approach need you to be signed in, so the
rule applies to everyone the same way.

### Revisit earns the points back

A problem you solved with help, or after four or more Submits, goes on your **Revisit** list and comes
back at 3, 7 and 21 days. When it is due, solve it again:

- without opening the Approach or using AI help on it since it came due, and
- without submitting code identical to something you submitted before on that problem.

A clean Revisit solve moves it to its next step. If the first solve had help and is at least **7 days**
old, the clean solve also restores the problem's **full points**. A Revisit that did not qualify comes
back in 3 days.

### When a problem's test cases change

If a problem's test cases are corrected after you solved it, your latest accepted solution in each
language is re-checked. If none of them passes the new cases, the problem's points come off your score,
with a note in your history. The problem still shows as solved. Solve it again on the new cases and the
points return.

## Rank and leaderboards

Your rank counts people on the public leaderboards with more points than you, plus one, so equal scores
share a rank (1, 2, 2, 4). It reads like "Rank 1,284 of 38,210 ranked coders, top 3.4%".

[The leaderboards](https://www.revquix.com/leaderboard):

| Board | Ranks by |
| --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Global | Practice Score |
| This week, this month | Points earned since Monday, or since the 1st (India time), net of any removed |
| Language | Points from problems you first solved in that language |
| Topic | Points from problems tagged with that topic |
| College | A school's group score (below) |
| Friends | You and the people you follow |

A **college's group score** sorts its members' scores from highest to lowest, gives the first full
weight, the second 80%, the third 64% and so on, and divides the total by 5, so a school cannot win by
size alone. A school appears once it has 3 ranked members. A member whose email address ends in the
school's domain gets a verified mark; the address itself is never shown.

### Who appears on the boards

You appear when all of these are true:

- your email is verified,
- you have solved at least one problem without help,
- your account is discoverable (accounts limited or hidden from discovery never appear), and
- **Show me on practice leaderboards** is on. It is on by default.

People under 18, by the date of birth on file, never appear publicly. The boards show your name,
username, avatar and points, which your public profile already shows.

To leave the boards, use **Hide me** on the Score tab or turn the switch off in your profile settings.
It takes effect immediately. You keep your score and still see where you would rank.

## What scoring cannot tell

Scoring cannot tell whether you wrote a solution yourself. Code pasted from elsewhere, or written by an
AI outside Revquix, looks like any other code, and we do not claim to detect it. A second account can
also read the Approach without costing your main account anything. That is why the score measures
verified independent work and says so, rather than claiming more.
