# Credits - earning, spending and what a run costs

Credits are the shared currency for the parts of Revquix that cost us money to run - mostly the
AI-backed tools. Everything else is free.

## What costs credits, and how much

**The cost is on the tool's card before you open it**, not after you have uploaded a file. Costs are
small and vary by how much work the tool does:

- **Bullet rewriter** - 1 credit
- **Resume readiness report** - 2 credits
- **JD ↔ resume match** - 3 credits

> **Note** - Those numbers come from the product, not from this page

> They are read from the same configuration the tools themselves use, so this guide cannot drift from
> what you are actually charged. If a price changes, this sentence changes with it.

Plenty of tools cost nothing at all. A tool marked free may still ask you to sign in - that is about
saving your work, not about payment.

## Where your credits went

[Your credits page](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/credits) shows the balance and a full
statement. Every line says what happened and when:

- **Tool run** - a tool you used, and what it cost
- **Credits added** - a purchase, or something you earned
- **Credits removed** - an adjustment

If a run failed and you were still charged, that statement line is the thing to quote when you
contact us - it identifies the exact run.

## Three ways to get more

1. **You start with some.** New accounts get an opening balance, shown on the credits page. It is
   there to be spent - the resume tools are the obvious first thing to try.

2. **Earn them.** Using the free tools regularly builds a streak, and the streak pays out in
   credits. The credits page shows your current streak and what it is worth.

3. **Buy them.** Credit packs, payable by card or PayPal depending on where you are. There is also a
   pass, which is better value if you use the AI tools often rather than occasionally - see{" "} [credit packs and passes](https://www.revquix.com/docs/payments/credit-packs-and-passes).

> **Warning** - A refunded purchase takes its credits back
>
> If a credit purchase is refunded, the credits it bought are removed. That can leave a
> negative-looking gap in the statement if you already spent them - the balance is the truth, and the
> statement explains how it got there.
