Two things shape what you see when you browse mentors: the shortlist you keep deliberately, and the
interests Revquix has worked out from what you do here. The first is entirely yours; the second is
yours to correct, and this page covers both.

## Saving a mentor

Save anyone from their profile or from a listing. Your shortlist is at [Saved mentors](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/mentors/saved).

It is private - a mentor is not told they have been saved - and it costs nothing. Comparing four
people properly is much easier from a shortlist than from four browser tabs.

## Your interests

[Settings → Your interests](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/settings/interests) shows what
Revquix has worked out about you from what you have done here, and lets you change it.

It feeds recommendations - which mentors and services get suggested, and what turns up first when
you browse without a query.

### Every row says why

Each interest is shown with the reason it is there. An unexplained claim about somebody is
unfalsifiable, and a list of them is exactly what makes personalisation feel like surveillance.

Interests that are being held but are not currently influencing anything are shown too, and labelled
as such, rather than quietly hidden.

### Three controls that do different things

> **Warning** - These are genuinely different, and the difference matters
>
> - **Removing an interest** is permanent. It is remembered as a correction, so it does not come back
> the next time the model rebuilds.
> - **Switching personalisation off** stops interests influencing what you are shown. It deletes
> nothing.
> - **Deleting everything** clears what is held. It does **not** stop future collection - use the
> switch for that.

You can also export what is held, along with the rest of your data - see [exporting your data](https://www.revquix.com/docs/account/exporting-your-data).

### Correcting it is the useful thing

Adding and removing is the highest-quality signal in the system, because it comes from the only
person who actually knows the answer. Two minutes there improves what you are shown more than any
amount of browsing.
