# Rating and reviewing

> When you can review a session, what a review is for, and what happens after you leave one.

After a session you can rate the mentor and write a review. It is optional, and it is the main thing
keeping the marketplace honest.

## The window

**30 days** from the session. After that it closes.

Reviews are attached to a completed booking, so only somebody who actually bought and attended a
session can leave one. That is why the ratings mean something.

## What a useful review says

The average tells the next person very little on its own. What helps is the specifics:

- **What you came with** - the question, the role, the stage you were at.
- **What actually happened in the hour.**
- **Whether it was worth the money**, which is the thing everybody is really asking.

"Great session, very helpful" is kind and tells nobody anything. Two sentences of detail is worth
more to the next person than a hundred five-star clicks.

## After you post it

Your review is public on the mentor's profile and counts toward their average.

**The mentor can reply to it.** A reply appears alongside your review - they cannot edit or remove
what you wrote.

> **Note** - A rating is not the route for something that went wrong
>
> If the session did not happen, the mentor did not turn up, or something else needs putting right,

## Not reviewing is a real option

Leaving no review is not a zero. An unrated mentor has no average rather than a bad one, so staying
quiet does not quietly damage somebody - it just adds nothing.
