# Ratings and reviews

> How your rating is built, how long a buyer has to leave one, and why having no rating is not the same as having a bad one.

Your rating is what buyers thought of the sessions. It sits next to your [reliability score](https://www.revquix.com/docs/mentors/your-reliability-score), which measures
something different - whether the session happened as promised.

Reliability is about conduct. Rating is about quality. A mentor can be perfectly reliable and
averagely rated, and the reverse.

## Leaving one

A buyer has **30 days** after a session to review it. After that the window closes.

Reviews are tied to a completed booking, so nobody can rate you without having bought and attended a
session with you.

## No rating is not a zero

> **Warning** - An unrated mentor is 'no signal', never 'zero stars'
>
> A mentor nobody has reviewed yet has no average at all. That is treated as an absence of information
>
> - it is not a low score, and it must never sort you as though you had one. If you see an unrated
>   mentor sitting at the bottom as if they had scored nothing, that is a bug worth reporting.

The same logic as reliability's five-session minimum: a new mentor should not be punished for being
new.

## Where your rating comes from

Your average draws on reviews from the current booking system and, for mentors who were active
before it, ratings carried over from the earlier surface. Both are yours and both count.

> **Note** - A count without a visible list is usually a carryover
>
> If your profile says a number of reviews but the list below looks emptier than that, the difference
> is almost certainly historical ratings that carried over as an aggregate - a score without the
> written text attached. Nothing is missing.

## Responding to a bad one

You cannot delete a review, and neither can support on request. A review that breaks the rules -
abuse, or something that is not about the session - can be reported and removed on those grounds, not
because it is unflattering.

The durable answer to one bad review is more good sessions. One review carries a lot of weight when
there are three; almost none when there are forty.
