Revquix tells you things in two places: **in the app**, on the bell in the workspace header, and **by
email**. The two are tuned separately, so you can keep something on screen without it also arriving
in your inbox.

[Notifications](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/notifications) is the full list. The bell shows
recent ones without leaving the page you are on.

## What gets sent

Roughly, in the order they matter:

- **Bookings and sessions** - confirmations, cancellations, and a reminder before a session starts.
- **Payments and refunds** - receipts, and refunds when they are issued.
- **Credits** - movements in your balance.
- **Disputes** - raised, and resolved.
- **Tool runs** - when a run you started finishes or fails.
- **Social and blog** - followers, and activity on what you have written.
- **Platform announcements** - occasional, from us.
- **Recommendations** - suggestions. Marketing, and treated as such.

If you are a mentor there are more: your application's outcome, payout cycles and processed payouts,
availability nudges, and changes to your mentor status.

## Tuning them

Each category has two switches - **in-app** and **email** - set from the Preferences tab in [your settings](https://www.revquix.com/dashboard/settings).

Tune rather than turning everything off. The categories are genuinely not equal: a session reminder
or a failed payout is time-sensitive and hard to recover from if missed, while a recommendation is
not.

> **Note** - Recommendations start switched off
>
> You are not opted into marketing by default. If you want suggestions, that one has to be turned on.

## Some cannot be switched off

A few carry information we are not willing to let you miss, so their switches are fixed.

| Category | Why |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Disputes** | Both in-app and email. A dispute has legal relevance and a deadline. |
| **Mentor earnings** | Both. Payout notifications are a record of money moving to you. |
| **Bookings** | In-app only - the email can be turned off. Something you paid for is happening at a time. |
| **Payment-linked orders** | In-app only. |
| **Credits** | In-app only. A movement in your balance is not optional information. |
| **Problem authoring** | In-app only. You asked for the outcome by submitting the problem. |

Everything else - social, blog, tool runs, calendar nudges, recommendations, platform
announcements - is yours to silence entirely.

> **Warning** - Turning off the email does not turn off the notification
>
> They are separate switches. Silencing email for bookings still leaves the notification on the bell,
> which is the point - the record stays, the interruption stops.

## Emails that are not notifications

Some mail is not a notification and is not governed by these switches: a sign-in code, a password
reset, a receipt you asked for. Those are part of using the account rather than updates about it.

### The newsletter

The newsletter is a separate subscription, taken by entering an email in the form in the site
footer. It is not tied to your account, so **none of the switches above turn it off** - and
subscribing does not require an account at all.

> **Note** - Unsubscribe from the newsletter itself
>
> Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email. It is the only way off that list -
> there is no toggle for it in your settings, because the address on the list is not necessarily the
> address on your account.
